Welcome to Larrakia Cultural Centre.
An ancient yet emerging icon on Gwoyalwa Gulumoerrgin - also known as Larrakia Country in Garrmalang (Darwin) - the Larrakia Cultural Centre has already gained international recognition for its groundbreaking architectural design and its powerful artistic and cultural vision.
The building’s design evokes a bird in flight, a Larrakia ancestral being, rising from its sacred site near Stokes Hill Wharf.
As you move through the exterior gardens, sculpture and native plantings reveal the Gulumoerrgin Seasons (Seven Seasons). A sense of awe and welcome builds as the centre draws you in beneath its wings.
At its heart, the permanent exhibition shares Larrakia cultural knowledge and history, including significant cultural treasures repatriated from across the world. A dedicated temporary gallery provides space for Larrakia artists to present evolving expressions of culture and practice.
Visit the retail store to discover bespoke wares, directly supporting Larrakia businesses and artists. Conclude your visit at the restaurant, where local produce and bush ingredients are paired with expansive views across the gateway to Larrakia Country.
